Ichida Sota’s Kansai with Claude Estebe
“Join Claude Estebe in an in an intimate discussion looking at Ichida Sôta’s beautiful albums featuring Kansai. Ishida Sôta 市田左右太 (1843 – 1896), who founded the largest studio of Kobe in Meiji era is probably the least known of the great photographers of this period.

Eriko Koga’s Temple, the Myomanji Tour
Join a tour, where Koga’s series ”Tryadhvan” is based. Established in 1389, widely known for its “”snow garden”” and “the Bell of Anchin & Kiyohime”. The monk of the temple will also give a lecture.(Booking Required).

“During KYOTOGRAPHIE, Artist Knarf will re-create his artist studio in Kyoto and will share his special technique of processing photographs with adhesive tape!
During two workshops, everyone (from 5 years old!) is invited come and make his/her own portable, take home tape-o-graphic artwork with the artist.
No special equipment or skills required! This is a very special oppertunity for kids to create directly with the artist.(Bookings required) [also held on 5/7]

Tea ceremony:The Land of the Dead
Conjuring up images of how these people experienced tea & by reincarnating their wagashi (Japanese-style traditional confectionery) and tea, we try to create a circle of the heart.
Benrido Colloytype Workshop
Collotype printing started in France in the mid 1900’s and shares an intimate relationship with early photography & fine art. The process provides excellent color saturation & can reproduce images in impressive detail. This workshop will give you opportunity to visit the Benrido studio and reproduce your image using the collotype techniques, including the press.
